AS OF 23RD MARCH, WE WILL BE MOVING TO ZOOM TO OFFER ONLINE APPOINTMENTS
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE - 27th May 2020
I am delighted that as a practice, we been able to continue to provide our services online to both existing and new clients over the last few months. I am extremely grateful to my administration team and to all of the clinicians to have enabled us to remain operating as normal, albeit remotely, during this pandemic. This has ensured continuity of care for our clients and prevented a waiting list building. As a result, we are still able to provide a first appointment for psychiatry or psychological therapy to new clients within two weeks from receipt of a self-referral form. Unfortunately, some services which require face-to-face interactions (e.g. Educational Assessments, ASD assessments) have had to be paused. However, I am in regular contact with our regulatory body, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, who are guiding health services in Scotland on when and how to resume face-to-face appointments and I will update everyone as soon as I have confirmation on when these can resume.
Together with our Child & Family Therapist, Fiona Mackay, I have written a piece here on what we can expect to feel as we enter these next phases of reconnection with society. I hope that you will find it helpful. As always, my team and I are here to assist in any way we can so please do get in touch should you need some advice or help: firstname.lastname@example.org.
I send my very best wishes to you all.
Dr Fiona Wilson
ONLINE THERAPY AVAILABLE
We are aware that many people are choosing to or need to self-isolate already so we will be offering sessions via Zoom from today.
For all appointments that will be taking place via Zoom, please follow the instructions below carefully.
Once you have requested and confirmed your appointment with your clinician/consultant, one of our practice administrations will be in touch and provide you with the PMI number (Personal meeting ID) of your clinician. This will look something similar to this:
The administrator will then advise your clinician/consultant that you have confirmed the appointment time and date they/the administration team have offered.
Although we can offer video calls without the app, we strongly recommend downloading the app just to be 100% safe your appointment goes through without any trouble. To download Zoom, please click here.
Once downloaded, you will be prompted to create an account.
On the day and time of your appointment, please login to your Zoom account and select the “Join” Button. From there, you will need to type in the PMI number of your clinician and wait for them to join.
There will be a 15 to 20 second delay for the video to connect, however once connected you should be able to speak with your clinician.
Please note, we will be unable to proceed with any video calls without payment being made in advance, therefore we would like to kindly ask that you speak with one of the practice administrations at admin@edinburghpractice to require an invoice to pay for this.
Please click the link below to download Zoom and follow the second link for how to use Zoom. for instructions on downloading Zoom:
For anyone who is not an existing client but is wishing to avail of our online therapy, please complete the relevant self-referral form on our website and email it to email@example.com. Our Clinical Director will be reviewing all referral forms as usual and will allocate you to the clinician best matched to your clinical needs and your availability.
We send our very best wishes to you all.
May we all support each other as we navigate through these difficult times.
