My qualifications are:
I have been qualified since 2009 and have since augmented my generic skills working across age groups and with all forms of more common mental health problems (such as depression, anxiety, OCD), with experience in the specialised fields of trauma, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal issues, addictions, and risk to self (self-harm/suicidality) and others. I have specialised within all-male and all-female populations and have developed skills in working with both client groups. I have experience in a range of settings including community, inpatient, secure units and schools. My particular interest is in working with people who have suffered from complex trauma experiences within their childhood and in later adult life, working to alleviate the difficulties which can occur as a result of this.
Alongside working in private practice, I currently work as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the NHS within a trauma-informed mental health service for women.
In my clinical practice I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as the foundation of all my work, as this has the widest and most reliable evidence base for a range of mental health problems. Due to my interest in trauma however I also use more relational approaches such as the Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) approach. As every client is different I am happy to discuss and negotiate, on an individual basis, which type of therapeutic approach best fits their needs.
