I am registered as a Practitioner Clinical Psychologist with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of The British Psychological Society (BPS) registered as a Chartered Psychologist (Cpsychol).

I still hold my Portuguese professional registration with the Order of Portuguese Psychologists (OPP) as a Senior Clinical and Health Psychologist and a specialist in Community Psychology.

Degrees and Education

I’ve completed a 7year course of studies in Clinical Psychology that offered me 2 distinct degrees:

I’ve also completed post-graduated studies in Neuropsychology and have advanced training in ACT.

Clinical Practice

For the past 16 years I’ve been working as a clinical psychologist in Portugal, Central America and the UK. This experience has enabled me to work with a wide range of people and mental heath presentations and contributed to develop clinical clarity and responsibility and to learn how to position myself towards my clients’ needs never trespassing the boundaries of an empathetical therapeutic relationship.

A part of my professional path has been in the field of alcohol and drug abuse both in an outpatient regime in a health public service and in a therapeutic community context. More recently I have been working in the psychooncology area as a clinical  and health psychologist and a supervisor. I have also always dedicated a substantial part of my time to private practice where I’ve been working mainly with adults and young adults that may experience adjustment disorders, trauma, anxiety, panic, depression and low mood,low-self esteem, anger issues, relational difficulties and  identity and personality disorders.

My therapeutical approach

I firmly believe that everyone has an internal potential and strength to understand, accept and accommodate their present moment and their concepts of past and future. In the transformative process that therapy can be, i always try to find the therapeutic approaches that will lead my clients to achieve a rich and meaningful life. In that sense, my practice is drawn by the therapeutic relationship and supported by an integrative approach that uses, when appropriate, short-term dynamic therapy, psychodrama, existential psychology, person-centred models, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CFT (Compassion-Focused Therapy), and Mindfulness.

I use an individualised model that always attends to my clients’ singularities so everything we do in session is collaborative and sustained by empathy, compassion and respect. Therapy can generously help us make sense of ourselves and of us in relation with life as well as how to move towards the things that truly mater to us.
