I am a clinical psychologist with experience of working with clients across a range of age groups. I work with a wide range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, phobias, OCD, trauma, relationship difficulties, stress, self esteem, and adjustment to living with long term conditions. I have experience in undertaking neuropsychological assessments in a physical rehabilitation setting to discover clients’ cognitive strength and weaknesses and to tailor on-going support plans. In addition to my private work I currently work as a highly specialist clinical psychologist in the NHS in a physical health setting.
I provide a safe space to enable the development of a collaborative therapeutic relationship with clients. I invest time on first meeting clients in building a relationship to undertake an assessment which allows me to gain an understanding of the clients current difficulties and how these difficulties impact on their quality of life. This assessment process enables both myself and the client to understand why difficulties may have developed and how they are maintained. The next step is to develop a treatment plan tailored to the individual client. I am able to draw upon my years of experience across a wide range of therapeutic approaches, some of which include; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness. I like to establish clear goals with the individual for therapeutic work and carry out regular reviews to ensure the client’s needs are being met.
