Clinical Practice

Having been a qualified practitioner working clinically within the NHS since 2013, I have delivered psychological assessment and therapies in a broad range of settings including: primary care; weight management; pain management; plastics; neuropsychology; and secondary care community mental health. My experience has included work across the lifespan, but with adults and older adults to a greater extent. I am experienced in treating all common psychological problems, but my special interest is trauma, and helping people adjust to life events such as physical health problems and role transitions; psychological difficulties which are often not a ‘disorder.’

In addition to private practice, my current NHS role involves delivering psychological therapies, neuropsychological assessment, consultation, supervision, and training in an older people’s community mental health team. In this role, I work with individuals struggling with a range of difficulties such as, but not limited to: dementia diagnoses; anxiety disorders; depression; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); complex trauma; grief; difficulties in relationships; adjustment; and low self-esteem.

My Therapeutic Approach

My typical therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), but I draw on aspects of other evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) where I feel it would benefit the needs and preferences of my clients.

The most effective psychological therapy is provided within a compassionate, warm, non-judgemental and transparent relationship between client and practitioner. I work collaboratively with individuals to provide a uniquely tailored therapeutic experience. Above all else, I aim to create a safe and nurturing space to help individuals work on what is important to them.
