Clinical Practice

I have over 10 years of experience working people of all ages from young children and their families, to adults and older adults who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health. For the past 5 years I have specialised in working with young people who struggle with complex difficulties, including trauma, self-harm, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, emotion dysregulation, and interpersonal difficulties. I was recently involved in the development and implementation of an intensive treatment programme providing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to teenagers in in-patient care. I am trained in assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders and have worked with many young people with unique neurodevelopmental profiles.

My Therapeutic Approach

My clinical practice is based on the needs of the individual or family I am working with. I prefer to develop a shared understanding of the difficulty and work alongside clients to achieve their goals. I use a range of evidence-based therapeutic models, particularly Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness. However, I believe it is important to have a flexible approach tailored to each person that draws on underlying beliefs, experiences, and relationships. With young children and their families, I take a holistic approach that takes into consideration all aspects of the child.
