Clinical Practice

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 9 years clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults across inpatient, outpatient and forensic settings. I have experience working with a variety of mental health presentations including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, anger, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, stress and trauma. I have developed skills working with clients who experiences these difficulties alongside a neurodevelopmental disorder such as Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Intellectual Disabilities (ID).

In addition to working at The Edinburgh Practice, I am employed within an NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. This role entails working systemically with children and adolescents with a variety of complex and challenging mental health difficulties, providing individually tailored therapeutic assessment and interventions. I also provide consultations for complex neurodevelopmental disorders and supervision to junior psychologists and trainees within the team.

Therapeutic Approach

I draw on a number of evidence-based treatment models to tailor your therapy to both your individual and therapeutic needs. These approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness.

My approach is integrative, strength based and person centred. As no two people are the same, I will adapt my treatment approach to meet your specific needs and I feel passionate about supporting you to feel empowered within therapy. I believe that developing a trusting, open, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship is important to allow us to develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and your experience of these.  I will work collaboratively with you to inform your understanding of the onset of these difficulties and explore the factors that may be keeping these difficulties current. Developing this shared understanding will inform our tailored treatment approach to enable you to develop the confidence, knowledge and skills that will allow you to move towards meeting your goals, reduce psychological distress and improve your wellbeing.
