My Clinical Practice

I have 0ver 10 years of experience working within the NHS in CAMHS.  Prior to qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist I worked as an Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology, where I had the privilege of supporting young people and families experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

Alongside my clinical work I have provided training and supervision to other professionals, and lectured trainee psychologists at the University of Edinburgh on topics including low mood, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

I have experience working with a broad range of difficulties including anxiety, mood difficulties, parenting challenges, OCD, trauma, and psychosis. My specialist interests include gender, Autism and ADHD and supporting adjustments to pain and long term physical health conditions.

My Therapeutic Approach

I have always prided myself on being consistently relational in my approach to therapy — at its core, I believe therapy is a trusting relationship between two people.

I aim to meet each person where they are. You bring all the knowledge and expertise about yourself; I bring psychological tools that might help support the changes that are important to you. That sense of collaboration and working together is what drives me as a therapist.

I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I believe in tailoring these models to fit the individual, rather than the other way around — and I think that creativity, fun, and curiosity are often key ingredients in making therapy meaningful and effective.

I make sure that whatever model I use – it fits the person I am working with. I also believe that creativity, fun, and curiosity are key to implementing these models effectively.
