Clinical Practice

Over the past 10 years I have worked with both children and adults across a wide range of NHS settings including inpatient (general hospital and psychiatric), and the community. Over this time I have worked with a wide range of presentations including, depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, body image, self-esteem, perfectionism, trauma, and adjustment to physical health conditions. Over the past 5 years I have specialised within physical healthcare settings including oncology, cystic fibrosis, ME/CFS and paediatric diabetes. My current role within the NHS is within Oncology Services which involves consultation and training with other healthcare professionals as well as my clinical work with patients and families.

I have previously been involved in the development and implementation of an intensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy programme, and neuro-developmental pathway within an adolescent inpatient unit in Birmingham.

My Therapeutic Approach

Within my clinical practice I use an integrative approach using evidence-based frameworks including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment therapy, and systemic approaches.  I am also trained in DBT which includes significant emphasis on mindfulness. I am particularly interested in the quality of the therapeutic relationship for effective intervention, therefore I often incorporate an interpersonal approach within my work. My priority is to create a non-judgmental and safe space where clients feel heard and understood within the context of their life experiences. I take a flexible approach to ensure a useful formulation which is tailored to the individual needs of the client is reached.
