Clinical Practice
I have worked in the NHS for almost 20 years as a Speech and Language Therapist to assess, diagnose and support a range of speech, language and communication support needs for people across the lifespan. I have specialised in Neurodevelopmental Difficulties, including Autism and those with mental health difficulties. I have worked across many services, including health, education and social care.
I have experience in administering a range of speech and language assessments, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2 (ADOS 2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview and have been clinical lead in diagnostic services. I am a member of the Scottish Consortium for ADOS and qualified as an ADOS trainer. I am trained to use Talking Mats and have experience in using a range of interventions to support individuals.
I have developed and can provide post-diagnostic support for Autism Spectrum Disorder, helping to personalise the diagnosis and what this means for the individual and their family. I can also provide therapy to help manage a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.
My Therapeutic Approach
I am passionate about improving outcomes for individuals who have neurodevelopmental differences. My clinical work holds individuals and their families at the centre to help them understand their neurodevelopmental profile and provide supports to reduce the impact of any challenges. My approach is to provide a flexible approach and adapt my style and clinical work to work best for the individual.
