My Clinical Practice

I have over 12 years’ experience working in psychological services in the NHS and 5 years as a qualified Clinical Psychologist.  I have experience of working with people of all ages in a variety of settings, including adult mental health, older adults, forensic and addiction teams.   My experience includes working with anxiety, low mood, emotion regulation difficulties, self esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder and psychosis.  I have a particular clinical interest in working with individuals who have experienced trauma.  This is a regular part of my clinical work, providing psychological therapy for trauma, alongside staff training and service development regarding post-traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma.

My Therapeutic Approach

In my work, I pride myself on bringing a personable, creative, friendly and compassionate approach to develop and foster genuine relationships with clients.  Alongside my work in private practice, I work within an NHS addictions service.  This role has allowed me to develop my compassionate approach to working with complex mental health difficulties and experiences of trauma within alcohol and substance use services. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to develop a shared understanding of difficulties and use formulation to set therapy goals together.  In my clinical practice, I draw on a number of evidence-based therapies in an integrative approach, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).  I have a passion for continued learning and professional development and look forward to developing my therapeutic skills this year through training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
