My Clinical Practice
I am a sport and exercise psychologist with over seven years of experience working in professional and elite level sport, providing individual, group and organisational support to national sporting programmes and governing bodies. I am currently offering online and in person support at The Edinburgh Practice. I am also currently working at the Scottish Institute of Sport, where I am the lead practitioner working with athletes and coaches across several sports.
My Therapeutic Approach
Honesty, empathy and respect are my guiding principles. My practice takes a holistic approach encompassing all aspects of a client’s life into our work. I am committed to providing a safe space where clients can feel free from judgement and explore their thoughts and feelings. I believe sport psychology is as much about personal development and wellbeing as it is about performance enhancement.
I aim to work with clients to develop their understanding of themselves and teach them skills and techniques that will help them enhance their performance on and off the pitch and ultimately to live a rich and more meaningful life.
My experience has included working with clients of varying age, stage, sporting abilities and challenges. I have experience working with individuals, team sports, coaches and support staff. I employ an evidence informed approach to practice, utilising current literature and client experience to tailor support and intervention to meet the clients’ needs. My training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and my psychological skills training, allow me to work in collaboration with clients on areas including, but not limited to, performance anxiety, goal setting, returning from injury, transitions in sport, and building confidence.
