Presenting at the UK Sports Institute Mental Health in Elite Sport Conference
Dr Fiona Wilson and Dr Carrie McCrea attended and presented at the UK Sports Institute Mental Health in Elite Sport Conference on 21 January. The third Mental Health in Elite Sport Conference, saw 130 people from across the high-performance system attend the event in Birmingham.
The day provided an opportunity for people to come together to focus on mental health and well-being support, network, and gain insight from sessions that took place throughout the conference.
Fiona and Carrie present on the topic of “Walking the Line: Maintaining Professional Boundaries and Managing Risk in Performance Sport”. The focus was on navigating the complex balance between providing holistic, athlete-centered care whilst maintaining the professional boundaries that protect both athletes and practitioners.
It explored the unique challenges of boundary management in high-performance environments, where the lines between professional support and personal relationships can become blurred, and discussed practical frameworks for managing these relationships whilst minimising risk.
