The Edinburgh Practice is sponsoring the forthcoming PROMISE conference on 20 and 21 September at South Hall, Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. The Protecting Mental Health in Sport + Exercise Conference is an international conference for licensed mental health professionals, physicians (psychiatrists, sports medicine, primary care), allied health professionals, team doctors, physiotherapists and psychologists.
The mental health of elite athletes is a crucial conversation now more than ever. With growing awareness, increasing demands, and mounting evidence linking mental well-being to performance, injury prevention, and recovery, the sporting world is taking notice. PROMISE conference is one of the first to focus exclusively on mental health in elite sport, addressing everything from early detection to long-term support.
Dr Carrie McCrea, Sports & Exercise Medicine Consultant at the practice will be delivering a lecture with Prof Vincent Gouttebarge on ‘Mental Health in Motion: Screening and Surveillance Strategies for Optimal Athlete Wellbeing’.
Dr Fiona Wilson, Founder and Clinical Director of The Edinburgh Practice will be delivering a lecture with Professor Alan Currie on ‘ADHD – Issues and Controversies in High Performance Sport’ she will also be delivering the opening address at the opening ceremony.
